Notice period
The minimum advance notice one party must give the other before terminating or declining to renew a contract, counted in days before the relevant date.
A notice period sets how far in advance you must act. For terminations it runs before the termination date; for non-renewals it runs before expiry.
Because notice periods are counted backwards from a future date, they are easy to miss — the obligation is invisible until the window is already closing.
