Standards
Editorial standards
What you can hold us to. These standards govern how we research, review, cite and correct everything StartedUp publishes — and where we draw the line between information and advice.
Accuracy and sourcing
Every factual claim about UAE business — a cost, a timeline, a legal requirement — must trace to a primary official source: a government portal, a free-zone authority, a regulator, or a published law. We do not publish figures we cannot cite. Where a figure is scraped but not yet expert-verified, it is labelled as pending verification.
Currency and review
Regulations change. Each data point carries an 'as of' date, and sources are re-checked on a schedule. When a source updates, we update the figure and note the change rather than silently overwriting it.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and are transparent about it. To report an inaccuracy, email us — corrections to sourced data are prioritised and actioned promptly.
Disclosure and independence
StartedUp operates a partner and referral programme. Where a page surfaces a partner, that relationship exists only after a complete, unbiased answer, and never changes the underlying data. Our data is not for sale and partner relationships never alter a cited figure.
AI, and its limits
We use AI to extract and structure information, always with its output cited to a source a human can verify. Low-confidence outputs are routed to human review before they drive any decision. AI accelerates the work; it does not get the final word on anything that matters.
Not legal or financial advice
StartedUp is an information and decision-support tool, not a law firm or a licensed adviser. Our content and analysis help you understand and prepare — they do not replace advice from a qualified professional, and we say so wherever it matters. Confirm with the relevant regulator or a qualified adviser before acting.
